# Connect to Your Windows RDP Server from Any Device

> Connect to your Evevps Windows RDP server from Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, or Android using Microsoft Remote Desktop with credentials and IP.

Connecting to a Windows server is incredibly easy, no matter what operating system or device you are using right now.

## What You Need

<Info>
  Before we get started, make sure you have your Evevps server details handy:

  * **Your Server IP address** (you can find this in your [Evevps client portal](\[CLIENT_AREA_URL]))
  * **Username** (this is almost always `Administrator`)
  * **Password** (check the welcome email we sent you when the server was built)
</Info>

## How to Connect

Choose your current operating system below to see the connection instructions:

    <Steps>
      <Step title="Download the App">
        Open the App Store and download the free **Windows App (formerly Microsoft Remote Desktop)**:

        * [Download for Mac](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/microsoft-remote-desktop/id1295203466)
        * [Download for iOS](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/microsoft-remote-desktop/id714464092)

      <Step title="Add Your Server">
        Open the app, click or tap the **+ (Plus)** button, and select **Add PC**.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Enter Your IP Address">
        In the **PC name** field, paste your Evevps server's IP address.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Set Up Your User Account">
        Under **User account**, select **Add User Account**. Enter `Administrator` as the username and paste your password. Click **Add** or **Save**. *(This step is optional, but doing it means you won't have to type your password every time!)*
      </Step>

      <Step title="Connect!">
        Save the PC setup. You'll now see a new computer icon in the app. Just double-click or tap it to connect. If you see a certificate warning pop up, click **Continue** or **Accept**: this is totally normal for a new server.
      </Step>
    </Steps>

    <Tip>
      **Pro-Tips for Apple Users:**

      * **Copy and Paste:** The clipboard automatically shares between your Mac and the Windows server. You can copy text on your Mac (`Cmd+C`) and paste it right into your Evevps server!
      * **Touch Mode (iOS):** At the top of the screen on iPad/iPhone, there's a menu bar. Tap it to switch between "Mouse Pointer" (which acts like a trackpad) and "Touch" (which lets you tap directly on Windows icons).
      * **Advanced Routing:** If you need to use a redirection server name for RDP on your iPad, you can configure this by tapping "Additional Options" when adding your PC.
    </Tip>
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Linux">
    Connecting to a Windows server from Linux is a breeze if you use the right tool. We highly recommend using **Remmina**: it's open-source, reliable, and handles the RDP protocol perfectly.

    <Steps>
      <Step title="Install Remmina">
        If you don't already have Remmina installed, open your terminal and install it. For Ubuntu or Debian-based systems, just run:

      </Step>

      <Step title="Accept the Certificate">

## Troubleshooting Common Issues

Having trouble getting in? Here are the most common fixes:

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="The connection times out or fails">
    * Double-check the IP address to make sure you didn't accidentally paste an extra space at the end.
    * Head over to the [client portal](\[CLIENT_AREA_URL]) and make sure your Evevps server status says **Running**.
    * If you're on a strict corporate or school network, they might be blocking port `3389`. Try connecting from a different network or a hotspot to test.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="It says my password is wrong">
    * Passwords are case-sensitive and often have tricky special characters. Try copying and pasting it directly from your welcome email.
    * If you changed your password recently inside the server, use that new one instead.
    * If you're totally locked out, you can always reset the password from your Evevps control panel.
